Special Meeting Monday July 21 to Decide Future of Grand Rapids Community Pool

GRAND RAPIDS, OH — A special joint meeting between the Grand Rapids Village Council and Grand Rapids Township Trustees has been scheduled for Monday, July 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Township Fire Hall. The meeting will focus on the future of the community pool, including a proposed lease agreement that could pave the way for a township levy to fund pool operations.
According to the proposed lease, the Village of Grand Rapids would lease the land on which the swimming pool sits to the Township for $1 per year, allowing the Township to place a pool levy on the November 2025 ballot. If approved by voters, the funds would support the continued operation and maintenance of the public pool, which serves both Village and Township residents.
Under the agreement, the pool site must be used for public recreation only. If the levy fails or the property is no longer used for pool purposes, the Village would regain control of the land.
The lease would take effect starting with the first collection date of the proposed levy and remain in place for a term of three years.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more and offer input. As with all local government meetings, this session is open to the public.
