Grand Rapids, Ohio — A local tradition returns this spring as the 7th Annual GRAC Poetry Challenge culminates in a community event at Grand Rapids Town Hall on Sunday, April 19, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The event will feature winning poetry submissions from Otsego students in grades 7–12, along with entries from adult participants, showcasing a wide range of voices from across the community. Organizers say the annual challenge continues to grow, bringing together both young writers and adults in a shared celebration of creativity.

This year’s event carries a special theme, honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. Attendees can expect a patriotic focus, with poetry and activities centered around themes like “America the Beautiful,” patriotism, and independence.

In addition to readings from contest winners, the program will include interactive poetry activities and a unique blend of poetry set to music, highlighting some of the nation’s most iconic literary works in an engaging and accessible way.

Organizers describe the event as both entertaining and educational, inviting the public to experience the power of American poetry in a welcoming, community-driven setting.

The event is open to the public and encourages residents of all ages to attend and support local writers while celebrating the nation’s literary and cultural heritage.
