Vietnam War Lecture Closes 250th Series

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — The Grand Rapids Historical Society will conclude its 250th Lecture Series with a free program on the Vietnam War.

The lecture will be presented by Dr. Dwayne Beggs at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the auditorium of the Historic Grand Rapids Town Hall, 24282 Front St.

Beggs taught U.S. history at Lourdes University in Sylvania for 14 years. His courses included the American Civil War, the Vietnam War, 20th century America and U.S. survey classes covering early and modern America.

His research focuses on the Vietnam War and presidential war powers. Beggs earned his master’s degree and doctorate in U.S. policy history from Bowling Green State University. He lives in Findlay with his wife, Susan.

The program is the final lecture in the Historical Society’s series marking 250 years of American history. The series began in April and featured programs arranged chronologically from the Battle of Fallen Timbers through the Vietnam War.

Admission is free and open to the public.
