Vehicle Break-Ins Reported in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — Residents in Grand Rapids are being urged to check their vehicles, belongings and security cameras after reported overnight vehicle break-ins and suspicious activity in the village.

According to accounts shared by residents, activity was reported early Sunday in areas including Woodburn Avenue, Third Street, Fourth Street and near Second Street. Residents reported vehicles being entered or attempts being made to get into parked vehicles.

One resident said a family member’s vehicle had been broken into and that a Wood County sheriff’s deputy responded and took a statement. The resident also reported seeing two people walking near the car wash area and attempting to get into additional vehicles before running away.

Another resident reported suspicious activity around homes and yards near Woodburn Avenue around 4 a.m. The resident said security footage had been shared with the sheriff’s office and encouraged neighbors to review their own cameras.

The reports were shared by residents, and no official release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was provided with the accounts.

Residents are encouraged to check vehicles, lock doors and review home security footage. Anyone who saw suspicious activity or has video that may help investigators is asked to contact the Wood County Sheriff’s Office at 419-354-9001.
