Sunset Jazz & Art Festival Cancelled Due to Weather

Update: Due to forecasted thunderstorms, the festival is canceled for August 16.

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — Live jazz, local art and scenic views along the Maumee River will come together as the Sunset Jazz & Art Festival returns to downtown Grand Rapids on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Hosted by the Grand Rapids Arts Council, the annual event runs from 2 p.m. until sunset on the historic towpath between the Miami & Erie Canal and the Maumee River. Now in its 21st year, organizers say the festival has been a Grand Rapids tradition since 2005 and is the longest-running jazz festival in Northwest Ohio. Admission is free.

This year’s entertainment lineup includes:

• 2:30–3:45 p.m. – Ariel Kasler Quartet
• 4:00–5:15 p.m. – Morgan Hammer
• 5:30–6:45 p.m. – 6th Edition
• 7 p.m. until sunset – Organic Ingredients

In addition to live music, visitors can enjoy live plein air painting demonstrations, browse artwork available for purchase, have a caricature drawn, and explore books on local jazz history. Food and beverages will also be available throughout the afternoon, including sandwiches, oven-fired pizza, wine, beer, popcorn and soft drinks. Organizers encourage guests to bring lawn chairs or blankets but ask that coolers be left at home.
