Written by on July 6, 2024

The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids will be presented by the Duane Malinowski Orchestra at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. They are sponsored by the Historical Society of Grand Rapids.

Duane Malinowski has entertained audiences across the nation for over 40 years. As a musician and vocalist, he performs over 150 dates a year, performing all kinds of music. Through the years, Duane has mastered his own style of music and is easily identifiable from anyone else. Along with his unique style of polkas, waltzes and obereks, Duane can thrill his audiences with the sounds of big band, country, jazz, rock and roll, and ‘50s and ‘60s styles of music. As an accomplished accordionist, Duane has the ability to make his instrument work in any situation and can further intrigue his audience by singing in five languages. Performing with Duane will be his son Duane, Jr., James Hatfield, and Dick Zunkiewicz.

The concert is free, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River and enjoy this multi-faceted, passionate entertainer who will provide favorites for all ages! In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved farther west on Front St. to the Old Fire Station.

Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
