The Jolly Gabbers to Perform at Grand Rapids Town Hall

Written by on March 8, 2026

Grand Rapids, Ohio — A night of Irish folk music and canal-era tunes is coming to the historic Grand Rapids Town Hall later this month as The Jolly Gabbers take the stage for a special performance.

The Grand Rapids Town Hall Committee and the Historical Society of Grand Rapids announced the group will perform Saturday, March 21 at 7 p.m. inside the Town Hall auditorium.

The Jolly Gabbers, a trio from Perrysburg, perform music from a variety of styles and eras, with a focus on 19th and 20th century Irish folk traditions. Their performances often feature sea shanties, songs tied to the region’s canal history, and traditional drinking songs connected to Irish and German heritage.

The group has appeared at several regional events, including the Tiffin Seneca Heritage Festival, Grand Rapids Applebutter Fest, and programs hosted by Toledo Metroparks.

Frontman Tyler E. Burg is known for his work as a living historian and musician and has also been involved in theater and technical production across the region, including work with the Toledo Opera. The band also includes Craig Spicer on vocals and guitar and Sean McGavin on vocals, banjo, bodhran, and 12-string guitar.

Tickets for the performance are $10 and can be purchased at The Village Orchard in Grand Rapids or at the door the night of the show.

Organizers say the event will also give visitors a chance to see recent renovations completed inside the historic Town Hall while enjoying an evening of traditional music close to St. Patrick’s Day.
