Birds of a Feather to Perform August 10 for Rhythm on the River in Grand Rapids

Written by on July 31, 2025

The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series in Grand Rapids will be presented by Birds of a Feather Sing Together on Sunday, August 10 at 4:00 p.m.  The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. The Rhythm programs are sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society and are free to the public.

The members of Birds of a Feather are Jane Draheim and Reyes Reyes. After retiring in 2022 from 34 years in the field of education, Jane started singing in area Senior Living facilities as a tribute to her late mother who enjoyed hearing music from area musicians. Soon longtime friend, Reyes Reyes, became an addition to the performances. After sharing stories of singing to the chickens and gathering their eggs on family farms, Birds of a Feather Sing Together became the official name of the group. Draheim has an extensive background in musical theater that started in high school and continued at The Ohio State University. She has performed with the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Choral Society, Westgate Dinner Theater, Croswell Opera House,  Toledo Repertoire Theater, Waterville Playshop, and 3B Productions. Jane performs as a soloist and featured performer for the Music Vine Concert Series at Bittersweet Farms. Reyes Reyes performed with the UT Varsity Singers, Croswell Opera House, and St. Joseph’s Church. He has sung The National Anthem for UT and Toledo Mud Hens. This duo is available for live entertainment venues, special events, fundraisers, and weddings.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River and enjoy a mix of jazz, big band, and easy listening tunes to please all tastes. In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Old Fire Station, farther west on Front St.

Plan to spend an afternoon in lovely, historic Grand Rapids. Many of the shops and restaurants will be open on the Sundays when River on the River concerts are held, so you can enjoy a very special day in the village.
